The Cerec machine is a new addition to the practice that allows the doctor to make crowns, inlays or onlays in one visit. By making a Cerec Ceramic restoration it protects and preserves your own tooth’s structural integrity. This is a snapshot of what takes place during a cerec restoration:
Defective fillings and/or decay is removed
A reflective powder layer prepares the tooth for imaging (no impression necessary)
A small camera takes a 3d image of the prepared tooth
The doctor designs a restoration from the acquired information
The design is sent to a milling machine that fabricates the restoration from a ceramic block
The new restoration is polished and bonded into the mouth
This is accomplished during a single appointment using Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacture (CAD/CAM).
